Description
In the 17th century, Delftware tulipieres were used by the European elite to force tulip and other bulbs indoors. More modern collectors use the ornate vessels to hold the cut stems of tulips and other flowers. New Orleans sculptor Ashley Pridmore, best known for her massive civic art installations, has riffed on the traditional Dutch tulipiere to bring this exclusive version to Reed Smythe & Co. Molded in steel then cast in a cream-colored sustainably-made resin, this tulipiere has a slightly brutalist aspect that stands in lovely contrast to the organic wildness of the flowers it holds. And who couldn't love those feet?
