Description
Founded in 1962 in the Coyoacán quarter of Mexico City, the ceramics studio of Alberto Diaz de Cossio has been a hub of creativity since its founding. Although Alberto Diaz de Cossio passed away in 2022, his students and protegés carry on the traditional pottery forms his studio is known for, while also creating their own work. The resulting pieces can be said to be created by the collective. We are proud to bring to Reed Smythe organic vessels in a moody matte blue that is the color of the Mexican sky. This is only one of the many glazes offered by the collective, where many potters work and teach and sell their wares. Alberto, beloved by his family and students, lived to be 87 and worked continually until his death. He says of his métier: "I've been a ceramist for (fifty-seven) years. During this time, I've developed in three areas: teaching, production, and artistic expression. I've always had a passion for creating my own clays and glazes, as well as my own equipment and tools. I believe ceramics is the art of arts, the most complete form of expression".

Shipping + Returns
Shipping
- In-stock items: Please allow 2–4 days for order processing. Once packed, orders ship via UPS Ground or 2-Day Express based on the option selected at checkout. Rates are shown at checkout.
- Custom furniture: Please allow 6–8 weeks for production and white glove delivery. We will contact to coordinate delivery and to secure the best rate.
- As a small business, we are not able to offer free shipping at this time, but we work hard to secure the best possible carrier rates.
Returns
- Returns are accepted within 10 days of delivery for a full refund. Beyond 10 days, items are not returnable.
- Items must be unused and in original condition. A 10% restocking fee applies to returns made at the customer’s request.
- Customers are responsible for return shipping unless the item arrived damaged of the wrong item was received. In this case, case we provide a pre-paid return label.
- Exclusions: Seasonal and holiday items, sale items, custom or special orders, antiques, vintage, furniture, one-of-a-kind fine art, and gift cards are final sale.
