19th century Japanese Awaji Vase in Jade
Description
This antique Japanese vase is made in the Awaji style, a fine Japanese pottery technique that takes its name from the island of Awaji, where it was in production between 1830 to the late 1930s. Featuring vibrant, translucent glazes in bright blues, greens, yellows and shades of aubergine, this pottery often has a subtle crackle pattern on the surface or hints of additional color. This vase is sold individually, but it looks most beautiful as a trio of vessels with graduated heights. I loved these the minute I saw them in an antique shop in Charleston.
