19th Century English Campaign Chest of Drawers
Description
I love the addition of a campaign chest to a man's dressing room or even a woman's study. Traditionally used "under canvas" in the field by British and European military officers in the late 18th through 19th centuries, these chests generally come in two pieces for easy transport and feature attractive brass bindings and recessed drawer pulls.
We found this piece at auction, and it is a very fine original 19th century example of this popular style. I was drawn to the unique inverted horseshoe shape of the handles and the beautiful patina of the wood. This is a particularly special version of the traditional campaign chest.
Overall dimensions: H 41 5/8" | L 42" | D 18 3/8" (each stack approx. 17 3/4" H)
