Nineteenth Century Porcelain Imari Dishes

$495.00
Description

These porcelain plates are a prime example of Japanese Imari. Characterized by bold underglaze cobalt blue with overglaze enamels in iron red, gold, and sometimes green, Imari features intricate patterns, often incorporating floral, geometric, and landscape motifs, inspired by Chinese designs but with a distinct Japanese flair. It became hugely popular in Europe from the 17th to 19th centuries and influenced many Western potteries.

I found these plates at auction and fell in love with them immediately.
